Each child has a unique story to tell, and so that’s why we at Surf excel want to encourage story-writing for kids with our new story-telling competition! Children are often considered to be more creative and imaginative than adults. Our little ones can imagine a world of their own where enchanted fairies co-exist with monsters, where animals can talk, and where people can fly just like birds can! Their curiosity, thirst for knowledge, and innocent imaginations can sometimes be astounding, leading them to fascinating new discoveries. Following the success of Little Big Film Makers in 2012, this year we are launching Little Story Tellers – a story-telling competition encouraging budding young minds to bring their thoughts to life. You never know – your little one could be the J. K. Rowling or Rudyard Kipling of tomorrow!
Details of the Story-Telling Competition
The Little Story Tellers competition is open to all children between five and ten years old and will take place on the Surf excel Facebook page. Every week, a different theme will be introduced – fun topics like ‘I met a talking dog in the park today’, ‘My toys live in a box under my bed’, ‘My dragon and I go sailing’, and lots more. To enter this contest, your little ones will have to share their stories around these topics in their own unique ways. Entries can be pictures or stories – either a scanned copy of the drawing with a caption explaining the story line or a scanned copy of their written story. Moms, you too can contribute by helping your little ones write a story or share a drawing. All entries will be showcased on our Facebook page in an Interactive Gallery called the ‘Hall of Fame’. Each entry will have the name of the Little Creator who shaped it, and you can look through all the entries under the different sections. You can also share your child’s entry with your friends – this is important, because one of the winners of this story-telling competition is based on the number of votes! We also will have a Judge’s Preference award for an entry we really like. And all the best entries will also be published as a book, too! To register, all you have to do is ‘like’ our Facebook page and upload your child’s creative activity as an entry on the competition page. All entries shall be evaluated at once after the closure of the contest at the end of October.
The Importance of Story-Telling for Kids
Today’s generation is plagued by short-term concentration spans! As it can be difficult to hold kids’ attention these days, it is extremely important for parents to encourage their little ones to communicate more. This Little Story Tellers contest will help your little ones work on their communication and language skills while giving them the opportunity to share their magical worlds using paints and pencils. Kids love to weave stories of their own or draw random things on walls, papers or just about anything! And, moms, we know you treasure these pieces of art.
